Notes

Commissioned from a model, the funds for this sculpture were raised a wedding present for a Wellington couple. The finished work was installed at a round-about near the Wellington airport. It was donated to the city of Wellington.

The work, although still of an androgynous nature, is more feminine in atmosphere, she has a face more with long hair that seems to performs her stunt. The title, Down Under and her upside-down posture, refer, in that typical slightly cynical bend of humor the artist often experts, to her Pacific home in the bottom, wrong side of the world’s atlas, as often seen from Europe.
