1997 Here Am I

Here Am I is a work that attempts to capture the extravagant grandeur and confidence of classical European sculpture. The sculpture is a piece of Pacific Rococo. A cloud cuts through the figure, the ‘long white cloud’ of Aotearoa. The feet are small and delicate but in fact support a woman who carries a section of the Pacific Ocean, complete with bird, boat and palm tree, symbols of the Pacific location.
