In the late 1990s and early 2000 Dibble constructed a whole series of works based on reducing the human figure to simple mathematical shapes; legs turning into simple cones and ellipsoids, heads replaced with spheres. These are often referred to as his ‘Geometrics’.

Still today he re-investigates these studies. Holding the Balance is one of these later pieces produced in 2002.

Although highly abstracted these works still maintain a sense of humanity with a strong feeling of gesture in their stance. Yet in seeming contradiction they contain an elegant, cool and surreal aesthetic.
